Bangalore: The Bangalore district publicity program of National Women Conference “Awakening” was held on 8th November in Darus salam. The “Awakening” conference is strong attempt by NWF to awaken the women of India to realize their responsibility.
NWF Bangalore district president Bibi Ayesha addressed the gathering with the welcome speech followed by theme speech by NWF state general secretary Lubna Siraj. She gave a brief introduction of NWF. She highlighted various crimes against women and specifically brought to attention the serious crime like female foeticide. She stated that such crimes begins even before the birth of a female child where they are killed by illegal abortions.
Speaking on the occasion Fareeda Rahmatulla, Urdu Journalist stated that every individual should be educated and also said how important education is in one’s life is. Law college student union vice president Amina Taj put forth her request to gathering to raise voice against dowry system and she also presented various laws in the country which are meant for the protection of women in India. The program concluded with vote of thanks by NWF Bangalore district secretary Baseera. Women from various parts of the Bangalore city attended the function and showed their interest to attend the Awakening conference in Coimbatore.
